Week 12 provides us with the Jacksonville Jaguars playing at New Era Field on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. The 1 p.m. game will be cold-weather and show us more interesting ways in which the Jaguars force fans into wondering ‘what is going on?’ Buffalo is 5-5 and battling Miami for second place in the AFC East. Jax has a 2-8 record and it’s part funny and just pathetic. The infection that is Gus Bradley is so real.
The Jaguars and Bills will meet for the 14th time this Sunday. Jax trails in the series 6-7. The last meeting was Oct. 25, 2015 in London. In one of the most exciting wins of the Gus Bradley era, the Jags took it 34-31. An Allen Hurns’ 31-yard touchdown was Jacksonville’s game-winning score.
Humble-brag to Bills fans:
Rex Ryan said the Jaguars are loaded.
We have napped plenty recently due to Thanksgiving
Connections to River City:
Jaguars offensive line coach and assistant head coach-offense Doug Marrone served as the Bills head coach in 2013 and 2014.
Middle linebacker Paul Posluszy was drafted by the Bills in the 2007 second round. He played four years in Buffalo (2007-10).
Bills defensive end Leger Douzable was with the Jaguars for the 2010 and 2011 seasons when he played 31 games and recorded 46 tackles.
What to Watch:
The Jaguars will be without RB TJ Yeldon (ankle) and TE Julius Thomas (back). Will the run game be altered because of those two missing?
The Bills get after opposing quarterbacks. Does it make the Jaguars get Blake Bortles out of the pocket earlier? Could it benefit him? We aren’t hopeful, but the other options aren’t enticing enough.
Will we see another item get tossed onto the field in Buffalo? It would move this matchup up the list of games to discuss Sunday night.
Trying to Figure Out:
Will the Bills have wide receiver Sammy Watkins back on Sunday? He’s been the biggest name of this matchup with being brought up every day in the news.
Right tackle Seantrel Henderson could be facing another NFL suspension. Does the announcement come soon?
How bad does it have to get for Bortles to see at least a glimpse of rookie quarterback Brandon Allen? We would like to know what kind of future backup (or better) the Jags have.
About the Opponent:
The NFL gets two Ryans on a coaching staff for the first time since the Cardinals in 1995. After starting the year 0-2, the Bills went on a four-game win streak, which included victories over the Patriots and Cardinals. Having lost three of the last four, Buffalo is difficult to figure out especially with a win last week over the Bengals in Cincy. The 5-5 Bills are better in many ways than the Jaguars.
How do the Jags defense contain Le’Sean McCoy? The Bills are productive on the ground. Even if the Jags hold Buffalo to a low total, can they stop big plays and make stops on key downs?
Shaddy McCoy has seven rushing touchdowns and seven plays of 20-plus yards. Jacksonville needs to cut out those explosive plays.
This Equals a Win:
Play like you want to win. It all seems stale. Just us?
Just do it. – Nike
