Savory Sandwiches at Blue Boy’s

I know there had been such a clambering for another article. Sadly my many jobs have taken up a lot of time.

As I write this piece, I am actually working a college softball game. As I sit here I am thinking about something to eat and thought I would share another great long time local Jacksonville spot.

My next savory spot is Blue Boy Sandwich Shop. I like to frequent the Northside location, down the street from the Gateway Mall. I have been going to this location since I was a young child. They do have another spot in Arlington, but to me there is always something better about the original. Maybe it is nostalgia or that they still remember my order (been the same for years), but either way it is good. In the dining room at the Norwood location there is a signed picture of Guy Fieri from Food Network after he had a visit.

The president of Flavortown USA loves Blue Boy’s.

I get a roast beef sub with cheese, mustard and double meat, hot. Usually this sandwich would be cold, but by asking for it hot they will put the meat on the grill with the cheese and also lightly toast the bread. What makes the sandwich is the bread. Sandwiches are offered on a sub (large) or on the round (smaller size but still large in most people’s view).
Blue Boy Sandwich Shop offers a variety of hot and cold subs, as well as breakfast sandwiches and more. Great for a lunch stop if you are in Arlington, or, if you and your family are going to the zoo, Blue Boy is likely on your way and a great stop for lunch on your way.

The roast beef, prepared hot.

Blue Boy’s slogan is “One Sandwich, One Meal” and you truly get what you pay for.

Let me know where the next spot I should go…reach me on twitter @craigshoup.

Blue Boy Sandwich Shop has locations on the Northside and Arlington. The Northside location is located at 6514 Norwood Avenue, and is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday.
